For your consideration is this 1979 Honda CR 250 R. It appears to not have been ridden much in the past 41 years as the original Bridgestone Claw Action tires (used and a bit checked by time) are still on the bike. This bike has many of the small rubber and metal cable guides, as well as the original front sprocket cover still in place, and those were usually gone after the first tear down. You could certainly use this as intended, but if you are reading this, you probably know that the 1979 CR 250's, and all the pre- water cooled Honda CR's are starting to sell for Maico money. Who would have ever thought this would happen, but it has. They certainly were popular in the day, and frankly I think the Honda Elsinores were some of the best looking bikes ever made, and this "red rocket" is truly visually stunning.. I bought this at an estate sale so I don't know it's history. I can tell you the frame is original with no cuts or breaks, it has a flat slide carburetor (late 90's), a new air filter, fuel line, spark plug, chain, seat cover, grips, and shiny red plastics from VMX.The bike starts (compression checked at 175 psi) the gears engage, the clutch does not slip (but I do have a set of new clutch plates that come with the sale) and the front and rear brakes work. The paint, while it looks pretty good, has some flaws. Someone along the way decided to spray paint the hubs silver (why we will never know) but it does not effect the use. The rear shocks while functional, should be rebuilt before any serious off road riding. This is a nice bike, not perfect, but really nice and with a little effort could be a real gem. This is sold on a California DMV Bill Of Sale with no warranty.
